Progress on Park Towers

03 September 2004
Dubai-based property developer Damachas appointed Egypt's Engineering Consultants Group (ECG)as local consultant for its estimated AED 600 million ($163 million) Park Towers project at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The project is one of several being pursued by the developer in the local real estate market.

ECG is carrying out detailed designs for the project, with tendering on the main package forecast for the first quarter of 2005. The project calls for the construction of two oval-shaped 30-storey towers, each with 216 apartments, office space and leisure facilities. Covering a total area of 12,000 square metres, the towers will overlook Park Boulevard at DIFC. The high-rise complex is scheduled to be completed by 2008. US-based Gensler Architectsdrew up the scheme's conceptual designs.

Tenders are also due to be issued by December for the main construction package on Damac's Lake View development in Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT). The 146-metre tower, which is due for completion by 2006, entails the construction of a luxury 40-storey residential complex. The US' WBTL Architectscarried out the conceptual designs for the tower; UAE-based Al-Gurg Consultantsis the local consultant and architect.

Lake View is the second of two towers Damac is developing in JLT. The client recently awarded the local Al-Hamed Development & Construction the contract to build the $40 million Lake Terrace block (MEED 6:8:04).

WBTL has also completed concept designs for Damac's Palm Spring development on Palm Jumeirah.
