Project management contracts awarded

11 March 2004
The US Department of Defence on 10 March awarded seven programme management contracts, worth a total of $130 million, as part of its $5,000 million reconstruction project. Five of the contracts went to US firms, one to a US/UK joint venture and the last to the UK office of Foster Wheeler. Six contracts are specific to the electricity, water, public buildings, transport, oil and security sectors. The seventh is an overarching agreement to co-ordinate the entire programme, which went to California-based AECOM. The next stage in the reconstruction programme is the award of 10 design and build contracts, worth about $4,000 million, scheduled to take place in late March.
