Airline to launch flights to Cambodia’s capital next year
Qatar Airways will operate daily scheduled flights to Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh from early next year.
The Doha-based airline will be the only Middle Eastern carrier to fly into Cambodia. Flights are expected to start on 20 February 2013.
Qatar Airways is looking to strengthen its presence in Asia, which already represents around 30 per cent of the carrier’s global network of cities.
The airline will operate to Phnom Penh International airport, which is presently being expanded to boost passenger capacity to five million by 2017, more than double the current capacity.
Over the next few months, Qatar Airways will launch services to several new destinations, including Maputo in Mozambique, Belgrade in Serbia, Warsaw in Poland, Gassim in Saudi Arabia, the Iraqi city of Najaf and Chicago in the US.
In October, the airline joined the Oneworld Alliance in an effort to forge global partnerships with other airlines and grow its market share.
