Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) has awarded a contract for the expansion of a 720,000 tonne-a-year ethylene plant cracker to Shaw Group.

The US-based engineering, construction and technology company will deliver basic engineering services that provide the design to boost the capacity of the cracker by up to 25 per cent, Shaw Group said in a press release.

The cracker is located in Mesaieed to the south of Doha.
