Doha has a broad range of international investments

The Qatar Luxury Group has bought a $42.4m stake in the British fashion brand Anya Hindmarch.

The London-based Telegraph reports that the Doha-based investment vehicle, which is owned by Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missned, the wife of the Emir, bought the brand as it seeks to develop its portfolio of luxury fashion brands.

Earlier this year, Qatar bought the Italian fashion house Valentino for $875.5m.

Qatar has a broad range of international investments. In 2010 Qatar Investment Authority paid Egypt’s Mohamed al-Fayed $2.3bn for the Harrods department store in London.

Qatar Holding also owns a 25 per cent stake in the UK supermarket chain J Sainsbury Group, as well as a stake in German car manufacturers Volkswagen and Porsche.
