Clients prioritising projects in preparation for hosting event

Qatar’s government clients are focusing on projects vital for hosting the World Cup in 2022, MEED’s Construction Leadership Summit was told.

Speaking at the MEED event in Dubai on 27 May, Jalal Salhi, infrastructure affairs director, Ashghal, said that while projects had not necessarily been cancelled due to the falling oil price, government clients were prioritising projects which would form a key part of hosting the World Cup in 2022.

Salhi had earlier told the conference that Ashghal currently had QR60bn worth of projects under execution.
