Qatar health council to conduct chronic diseases survey next week

Qatar's Supreme Council for Health (SCH) has announced a public survey on chronic diseases is to be launched next week, Gulf Times has reported. According to a survey conducted in the Gulf country in 2006, 8.3% of those surveyed suffered from diabetes and 10% from pre-diabetes symptoms. It also indicated that as much as 39% of the people were overweight and 56% of them did not abide by any regular physical exercise, while 87% did not include adequate quantity of fruits and vegetables in their daily diet as per the standards set by the World Health Organisation.
