Qatari Diar completes sale of Cegelec
Qatar is considering investing in French nuclear giant Areva, Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani said in Doha on 11 February.
The prime minister told reporters that Qatar was “studying the matter,” according to a report by Bloomberg.
Areva sold its transmission and distribution business to a French team of Areva and Schneider Electric in January.
Earlier this month, Qatari Diar agreed to transfer 100 per cent of French technology firm Cegelec to Vinci, also of France. In exchange for this, Qatari Diar will take a 31.5 per cent stake in Vinci, making it the second largest shareholder in the company.
Under the deal, Qatari Diar must retain a 5-8 per cent stake in Vinci for the next three years.
