The EPC contract covers the balance of works package on Mesaieed’s ethylene upgrade
Evaluation of bids is under way at Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract covering the balance of works package on its ethylene upgrade project at Mesaieed.
Two groups are competing for the contract: Paris-based Technip, with Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company; and US-based Stone & Webster, with Japan’s JGC Corporation. The estimated $100 million revamp aims to increase Qapco’s ethylene capacity to 720,000 tonnes a year (t/y) from the existing 525,000 t/y (MEED 23:8:02).
