UK company to provide security and telecoms system at halul Island

Qatar Petroleum has awarded the UK’s Kentz Group a $36m contract at its Halul Island facility in Qatar.

The scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of a security and telecoms system, a general alarm system as well as closed-cirtcuit television (CCTV) and intruder detection systems. The completion date for the project is August 2012.

“Kentz has been active in Qatar since 1997 and has executed a number of projects on Halul Island since 2001,” a statement said.

The Halul export and storage facility is located 52 nautical miles off the coast of Qatar and has been part of Qatar’s oil and gas network since 1965.
