Contractors still waiting for contract awards on two other car park projects at Education City
Astad, the project management arm of Qatar Petroleum, has invited contractors to submit bids by 11 December for the contract to build an estimated QR1bn ($274) new car park at Education City on the outskirts of Doha.
Contractors have until the 11 December to submit bids for the contract to build the four-storey over-ground South-East car park at the Education City development.
The South-East Car park scheme is the third major car project at Education City that Astad has tendered for Education City in the past year.
In October last year, Astad received bids from at least nine contractors to build the estimated QR800m North East underground car park. The underground car park will have two levels, which will cover a total area of approximately 94,000 square metres.
In May, at least seven contractors for the main construction package on the estimated $225m West Car Park development in Doha’s Education City.
The West Car Park will have four levels above ground and will be located in Education City, a 14-square-kilometre development on the western edge of Doha.
Contractors are still waiting for the client to award both projects, according to sources in Doha.
Astad is managing the planned projects at Education City on behalf of the Qatar Foundation, Science and Social Development (MEED 9:6:11).
