UK company to build receiving and loading facility
Qatargas has awarded a contract to the UK’s Kentz Group for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a receiving and loading facility at Ras Laffan.
Kentz says work includes full site development of the main fuel truck distribution point for the Laffan refinery tank farm.
It also includes installation of an interconnecting pipeline between the tank farm, loading facility and Ras Laffan jetty.
Once the project is completed in 2011, Kentz says the facility will be operated and maintained by Qatar Fuel (Woqod).
Qatar Petroleum (QP) started the first phase of production at Laffan refinery on 30 July, following a delay in its original deadline of November 2008.
In September, Kentz won a contract from QP to build gas facilities at Dukhan (MEED 14:9:09).
Kentz says the project covers the replacement of two existing glycol regeneration trains at QP’s Fahahil stripping plant in Dukhan.
