The three-year deal is to supply 2.4 million tonnes a year of LNG to the UK
Qatargas has signed a three-year deal with British energy provider Centrica to supply 2.4 million tonnes a year of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the UK. The gas will be delivered to the Isle of Grain terminal in the UK.
“The deal will provide enough gas to meet approximately 10 per cent of UK annual residential gas demand, enough to meet the needs of around 2.5 million households,” says a statement from Centrica.
The deal was announced during a visit to Qatar by British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Qatar supplied the UK with 10 per cent of its gas in 2010.
