QDVC, a joint venture between Qatari Diar and France’s Vinci Construction, will carry out a $535m civil engineering contract for the Lusail light-rail (LRT) project.
The design and build contract covers civil engineering works, including the construction of eight stations, a viaduct over a main road and preliminary works on a LRT deport and maintenance workshop.
The work is expected to take just over three years to complete.
QDVC, established in 2006, has already carried out the earthworks and civil engineering works for the tunnels and ventilation shafts on the LRT project.
The award for the rolling stock is still pending. A US joint venture of Aecom-Parsons is project management consultants on the project (MEED 7:4:11).
Qatar Railways Development Company invited bids for the rolling stock in April.
