Both contracts are scheduled to take about 16 months to complete. Lot 1 covers the construction of accommodation units, with a built-up area of 60,000 square metres, and associated infrastructure. Lot 2 is for about 85,000 square metres of accommodation, again with associated infrastructure. Two other groups were bidding for the project, which covers about 600 residential units.

Tendering is awaited on two more packages at Education City. Selected contractors were invited in late October to express their interest in bidding for the construction of the Texas A&M College of Engineering. With a gross area of 53,000 square metres, the college will comprise laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, a library and parking and will be located to the south of the Education City development.

Bidding is also awaited on the convention centre package, for which prequalification of contractors was launched in the summer.

The project manager on the Education City development is the local office of KEO International Consultants.
