A key person working on solar power projects in the region
Company: Desertec Initiative
Position: Chief operating officer (COO)
Biography: Rainer Aringhoff joined the Desertec Initiative in April 2010 as COO.

Desertec has set itself the target of providing 15 per cent of Europe’s power demand by 2050 through renewable energy projects. Aringhoff is responsible for the conceptual preparation and planning of reference projects.
Prior to joining Desertec, Aringhoff was president of US-based Solar Millennium. He headed the development of the Andasol solar projects in southern Spain, Europe’s first commercial parabolic trough plants. He has worked, among other countries, in Greece, Jordan and Morocco.
