RAK Properties prepares tender for luxury Ras al-Khaimah hotel

23 October 2008
Local developer RAK Properties is preparing to issue tenders for a five-star hotel at its AED20bn ($5.4bn) Mina al-Arab development in Ras al-Khaimah.

The contract is the latest major building project planned at Mina al-Arab.

In late September selected companies were invited to express interest in a AED2.5bn contract to build a series of apartment buildings on the development.

The local Darwish Engineering is already working on the AED340m infrastructure works on the project. A total of ten hotels are planned for the development.

The contract includes the construction of roads and bridges, wastewater treatment and collection, drainage and the installation of cables.

China Harbour Engineering Company was awarded the marine works contract in 2005.

The overall project involves the construction of more than 600 villas, as well as apartment buildings, hotels and other urban amenities on the Gulf coast to the south of Ras al-Khaimah city (MEED 28:9:08).
