RBS wins Qatargas II advisory

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)is understood to have won the financial advisory mandate for the proposed Qatargas II liquefied natural gas (LNG) project. RBS officials declined to comment.

The race for the advisory mandate had ended up being a competition between RBS, HSBCand ANZ Investment Bankafter six banks were initially invited to bid (MEED 29:11:02).

Qatargas II, promoted by Qatar Petroleumand the US' ExxonMobil Corporation, will see the construction of two 7.5 million-tonne-a-year LNG trains at Ras Laffan. The bulk of the LNG is destined for European markets (MEED 22:11:02).
