The local ABJ Engineering & Contracting is low bidder a KD4.2m ($15m) for a contract to upgrade fire and gas detection systems at the Mina al-Ahmadi refinery.
ABJ’s offer is marginally lower than the next best price of KD4.4m ($15.7m) submitted by the local Kharafi National. Four other local contractors priced the work.
The lump-sum engineering, procurement and construction contract covers the modification of fire and gas detection and suppression systems for 34 units at the refinery.
The client, state refinery operator Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), is expected to make an award soon.
