Winning bidder to supervise commissioning activities for electricity & water authority

The local Relays Electrical Engineering Consultants has submitted the lowest bid for a contract to supervise the commissioning of power and water projects in Dubai.

The company submitted a bid of AED24,040 ($6,540) for the consultancy contract. Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) is the client on the project.

Three other companies bid for the contract. Serbia’s Energoprojekt Entel bid AED35,000. Germany’s Germanischer Lloyd priced the contract at AED46,260. Kuwait’s KEO International Consultants was the highest bidder, with a price of AED62,510.

The companies submitted their bids on 23 November.

From the end of 2008, Dewa had installed power capacity of 6,676MW and desalination capacity of 275 million gallons a day (g/d). Peak power demand reached 5,287MW in 2008 and demand for water stood at 263 million g/d.
