Stories stating that new foreign minister planned to fly to Tehran “fabricated”

Saudi Arabia has denied Iranian media reports that the country’s new foreign minister was planning to fly to Iran for immediate talks.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) stated that the reports stating that Adel al-Jubeir had told aides that he was prepared to engage Tehran in a dialogue about several issues, including Yemen, was completely fabricated.

“There is not a single iota of truth in what has been attributed to him,” said the SPA statement.

The stories on Iranian websites had said that Al-Jubeir believed that direct negotiations were the only way to solve the disputes with Iran.
