Tunnel and infrastructure works around Abu Dhabi's Baynounah Street costing Dhs800m are to be completed by the end of 2012 to meet the demand caused by thousands of new residents, The National has reported. The project includes two tunnels, Baynounah Street, its connecting roads and extensive landscaping. Capacity on the roads will increase by three times the current rate to 3,000 vehicles per hour for upcoming developments that include presidential palaces, hotels and commercial and residential developments in Al Bateen marina area.
