Provision of 3D data acquisition planned for Sirte basin area of Libya

Germany’s RWE Dea has invited seismic contractors to prequalify for the provision of 3D data acquisition at its NC-193 and NC-195 concessions in the Sirte Basin area of Libya.

Prequalification documents will be available by 12 May and must be submitted before 19 May.

RWE is planning two surveys for the 500-square-kilometre NC-195 area, and the 300-sq-km NC-193 area, using hydraulic vibrators.

The company hopes to use a single contractor for the surveys, which will be carried out simultaneously or back-to-back. Prior to the seismic data acquisition, an uphole survey shall be conducted to quantify thickness, lithologies and seismic velocities within the near-surface layers.

The target depth is between 3,000 feet and 12,000 feet below ground level. Work is expected to begin at the end of 2013 and completed before March 2014.

In early March, RWE invited drilling contractors to prequalify for the provision of rig services for its planned exploration campaign in the area-58 concession in the Cyrenaica basin in the northeast east of Libya.
