SaaS model to hit $10.7bn in 2009

UAE-based systems integrator Raqmiyat said it is offering unique solutions for the SMB market in the Middle East using the SaaS model or 'Software-as-a-Service', Khaleej Times has reported. IDC has reported that the global SaaS market is projected to hit $10.7bn by 2009. SaaS is a software model where the application is hosted by the vendor or service provider and made available to customers across the internet, thereby eliminating the need to install and run the application on the customer's own computer, and thus saving customer's burden of additional costs for software maintenance, ongoing operation and support.
