Position: Chairman, DFSA
Biography: Since August 2011, Saeb Eigner has been chairman of the DFSA, the body that acts as an independent regulator for financial activities undertaken by firms licensed within the DIFC. It also grants licenses to firms wanting to operate in the centre and is seen as an integral part of the DIFC’s attractiveness to international banks.
He was previously deputy chairman of the board from 2007, having joined the board in 2004. Prior to joining the DFSA, Eigner was senior manager at the private ANZ Grindlays Bank in London, heading the Middle East and Indian subcontinent division.
Eigner left the bank in the early 1990s to form Lonworld, a private investment group. He is still chairman and sits on the advisory board of several other companies including H&Q Asia Pacific, an Asian private equity firm. Eigner has a master’s degree in management from the London Business School.
