Salmiya Park construction tender to be issued in August

15 June 2008
The tender for the main construction package for Kuwait’s Salmiya Park project is expected to be issued in mid-August, according to sources involved in the project.

The value of the contract is estimated to be KD25-27m ($94m-102m), and the duration will be 24 months.

The local Wara Construction was recently awarded the site works package, valued at just under $1m, with work already under way. Work on the main construction package should start before the end of the year.

Salmiya Park is a 333,000 square-metre recreational and leisure park, which will include two football pitches, six tennis courts, two all-weather basketball courts and a cricket pitch, together with lakes and various water features. A 1.2-kilometre railway line will be built to connect all the various amenities.

The local Gulf Consult is the consultant on the project and the client is the Kuwait Commercial Markets Complex Company (MEED 10:03:08).
