Biography: Sang-Ryong Woo was promoted to the top role at GS Engineering & Construction in 2007, after previously working as the CEO and senior executive vice-president since 2005.
He has spearheaded the company’s push into Middle East markets with GS, working on some of the region’s largest projects, including Saudi Arabia’s Karan gas development and the UAE green diesel project at Ruwais.
GS Engineering & Construction was awarded three packages at PetroRabigh’s $5bn phase two expansion. It will construct the ethylene-vinylacetate/low-density polyethylene, ethylene propylene rubber, thermoplastic olefin and polymethyl methacrylate plants at the project.
Prior to joining GS, Woo was CEO and executive vice-president of LG Engineering & Construction from 2003 to 2004. Woo also worked in the region in 1983 for two years as planning manager for Shinhwa Engineering & Construction in Shiraz, Iran.
