Jubail refinery is expected to start operations ahead of schedule
Saudi Aramco Total Refinery and Petrochemicals Company (Satorp) is expected to start marketing its first diesel from its $9.6bn refinery in the second quarter of 2013.
The 400,000 barrel-a-day (b/d) refinery is still under construction at Jubail in the Eastern province of Saudi Arabia, but is expected to start full operations ahead of its planned completion date of 2013.
MEED reported in June that Satorp was already planning its second phase and discussions were taking place about the potential product mix for the expansion. Satorp is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco with 62.5 per cent ownership and France’s Total, which retains the remainder.
