The project cost is about SR 700 million-1,000 million ($187 million-267 million) and will take about two years to complete. Jordan’s Dar al-Omranis the masterplan architect; the client is Lebanon’s Millennium Group.

More projects are planned at Shamieh. Emaar International Development, part of Dubai-based real estate developer, Emaar Properties, with the local Al-Oula Groupis due soon to officially appoint a project manager for its proposed major real estate development.

Estimated to cost SR 10,000 million ($2,665 million), the scheme will involve the construction of residential, retail and related facilities, alongside transport corridors to carry pilgrims.
