Contractors have submitted a bid for the marine infrastructure and buildings contract for the proposed King Fahd Naval Academy in Mecca’s Al-Qadima village.
Sources familiar with the scheme tell MEED at least nine firms submitted offers for the contract, for which the due date was 28 November. They include:
- Al-Fouzan Trading & Contracting (local)
- Al-Kifah Contracting (local)
- China Harbour Engineering Company (China)/Al-Yamama (local)
- Mapa Gunal (Turkey)
- Nesma & Partners
- Nurol (Turkey)
- Saudi Archirodon (Netherlands/local)
- Shar Construction (local)
- Tihama Engineering (local)
The project has an estimated budget of $1bn and will be developed over 4.3 million square metres of land.
The contract covers dredging and reclamation works, the construction of a quay wall, roads, sewage and irrigation networks. It also covers the construction of several buildings.
Saudi Arabia’s Defence and Aviation Ministry (Moda) is the project client.
