Saudi Arabia is planning to build a new commercial airport at Taif in the west of the kingdom, MEED has reported. The national aviation regulator, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, has identified a site 20 kilometres north of the city and will begin preliminary designs before seeking to appoint a consultant to the project. Taif does not currently have its own dedicated civilian airport and passengers share space with a military facility.
