Scope involves approximately 35 million cubic metres of dredging and reclamation work
Saudi Aramco has formally awarded a team comprising the local subsidiary of Netherlands-based Archirodon and Huta Hegerfeld Saudia the reclamation and dredging contract for the King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries & Services facility, located in Ras Al-Khair on Saudi Arabias Gulf coast.
The scope of the project entails dredging and reclamation of approximately 35 million cubic metres of fill and ground improvement over an area of 7.4 million square metres.
It also includes the construction of 4,500 linear meters of concrete quay walls and wharves as well as 12,000 linear meters of rock revetments and breakwaters to protect the integrity of the complex.
The project is expected to be completed in 2020.
MEED understands Saudi Aramco is currently preparing to tender the next phase of the maritime complex, which entails the construction of several dry docks, basins, piers and utility buildings.
