US contractor to carry out work at oil and gas fields off the coast of the Eastern Province

Saudi Aramco has awarded the US’ McDermott two contracts for offshore oil and gas work in the Gulf.

The US contractor was awarded a package at the non-associated Karan gas field located off the coast of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. The scope of the contract includes the fabrication and installation of a wellhead platform, auxiliary platform, jacket and link bridge and theinstallation of flowlines and fibre optic cables.

The second contract covers the procurement, fabrication and installation of pipelines and subsea tie-ins at the Safaniya and Zuluf offshore fields that are also off the coast of the Eastern Province.

The engineering and project management will be carried out at McDermott’s Al-Khobar office in the kingdom with fabrication being conducted at the company’s Jebel Ali facility in Dubai.
