Saudi authority issues Jeddah water utilities tender

11 November 2008
The Saudi Industrial Property Authority (Sipa) has issued a tender for a SR300m ($80m) build-operate-transfer (BOT) water utilities contract.

The scope of the contract covers the construction of a water services network at Jeddah Industrial City 2.

This includes networks for drinking, treated and sewage water. It will also include the construction of a sewage treatment plant.

A number of local firms have been invited to bid and an award is expected by mid-December.

Jeddah Industrial City 2 covers an area of 8 million square metres and is an extension to the existing industrial zone.

Sipa is also known as Saudi Organisation for Industrial Estates & Technology Zones (SOIETZ). It supervises 19 industrial cities in the kingdom.
