Consortium of KEC and Al-Sharif Group win $64m contract

A consortium of the local Al-Sharif Group and India’s KEC International has won a SR241m ($64m) transmission contract in Saudi Arabia.

The contract is for the construction of 166 kilometre-long dual circuit 380kV overhead transmission line in the north of Riyadh. The line will connect the PP9 power plant to the Hittin area in the northwest of the capital.

The winning consortium is due to complete work on the project in April 2012.

The client is Saudi Electricity Company.

KEC won a separate contract for the construction of 169km of a 132kV single circuit transmission line between two substations and 37 kilometres of 33kV lines in Najran.

The Water & Electricity Ministry is the client.
