Middle East Specialized Cable Company to produce 36,000 tonnes a year of polyvinyl chloride using Sabic raw materials
Saudi Arabia-based Middle East Specialised Cable Company (MESC) has completed the construction of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compounding plant in Riyadh.
The facility is expected to produce of 36,000 tonnes a year (t/y) of products used in applications such as electric cables, tubes, hoses and door and window frames.
The plant will obtain the key raw materials from petrochemicals major Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic). Swiss company Buss supplied and installed the production lines at the project.
Downstream plastics production is one of the core industries being promoted by the Saudi government to diversify industry and generate non-expatriate jobs. MESC said that over 80 per cent of the plant’s employees would be Saudi nationals.
