Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has announced the re-opening of London’s Savoy hotel after the completion of its restoration programme, Arab News has reported. The 168-room Savoy, which originally opened in 1889, closed for refurbishment and restoration of the entire building in December 2007. The planned 16-month closure in 2007 for a £100m refurbishment turned into a three-year £220m renovation, after major structural problems were identified.
