Company says production will increase by 50 per cent over 2018

The North Africa-focussed oil and gas company SDX Energy is planning to increase gas production from its Sebou concession in Morocco by 50 per cent over 2018, according to the company’s director of business development, Albert Gress.

Speaking on the sidelines of an Oil and Gas Council event in London he told MEED that the company’s plans were based on “very positive 3D seismic survey data”.

The Sebou concession is located in Morocco’s Rharb Basin and was acquired by SDX Energy in January 2017.

Current production from the concession stands at around 1,000 barrels of oil equivalent a-day (boe/d), according to Gress.

In 2017 SDX acquired Circle Oil’s 75 per cent interest in the Kenitra industrial zone pipeline and local gas distribution network. The remaining stake is owned by Morocco’s state-owned Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (Onhym).

The pipeline’s capacity is up to 24MM standard cubic feet a-day (scf/d0.

In the second quarter of 2017, SDX received confirmation of the renewal of the Sebou exploration permit for eight years after committing to drill three exploration wells in the first four years.

SDX also received confirmation of extensions to the following producing concessions in Sebou:

  • Gueddari NW to 2 February 2019
  • Gueddari Sud to 18 January 2020
  • Sidi Al Harati SW to 20 September 2023
  • Ksiri Central to 18 January 2025
