Saudi contractor to use treated effluent to irrigate land

Saudi Arabia’s Sete Energy has won a contract to build an industrial wastewater treatment plant at Yanbu.

The Power & Water Utility Company for Jubail & Yanbu (Marafiq) is the client.

Sete will design, engineer, procure, construct, test and commission a 48,000 cubic metre a day industrial wastewater treatment plant called IWTP II at Yanbu Industrial City. Marafiq wants to complete the project by the end of 2011.

The plant will treat increasing volumes of industrial wastewater as the city expands. Sete will use the treated effluent from the plant to irrigate land in Yanbu Industrial City.

Milan-based Foster Wheeler Italian will carry out the detailed process design on the scheme.
