Siemens bids low for substation work in Kuwait

Germany’s Siemens is the lower bidder for a contract for the operation and maintenance of major substations across Kuwait.

The contract covers a series of 132/300kV substations. Siemens submitted a price of KD31.1m ($117m) for the work.

Bids were also submitted by four other companies. The local Abdulaziz Abdulmohsin al-Rashid Sons Company bid KD32.38m while another local company, Yusuf Ahmed al-Ghanim & Sons offered a price of KD32.42m.

Middle East Electric Company, also local, bid KD36.5m. The highest price of KD37.2m was submitted by Europe’s ABB.
