Siemens facility will manufacture power-generation equipment

Germany’s Siemens has signed a land lease agreement with Saudi Industrial Property Authority for the construction of a manufacturing and service facility in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Under the agreement, Siemens will lease a 220,000-square-metre plot of land in Dammam Industrial City and build a facility capable of manufacturing gas turbines, compressors and heat recovery steam generators for the Saudi Arabian market.

Construction on the project is due to start in May 2012, with completion scheduled for late-2013.

“The committee is currently seeking to develop [other] industrial cities and provide facilities and services to create an environment attractive to investors, and to international and local companies,“ says Saleh al-Rashid, director-general of Saudi Industrial Property Authority.
