Four other companies are competing for the contract
Siemens submitted the lowest bid on 31 October for a contract supply and install a 400/300kV main transformer station at Al-Zour for Kuwait’s Electricity & Water Ministry.
The German company submitted a price of KD67.2m ($240m), which was just 0.45 per cent lower than the price of KD67.5m submitted by the local Middle East Electricity Company.
The other bidders are the local United Gulf Construction at KD70m, Switzerland’s ABB at KD74m, and the local Al-Ghanim International General Trading & Contracting at KD89m.
Bids were invited in July with a deadline of 14 September. A pre-bid meeting was held on 9 August.
