The scope of the contract covers the electrical transmission and distribution works for the first phase of the city. This includes laying out 110kV/13.8kV electrical substations and transmission infrastructure over the Industrial Zone, Resort Cove and Bay Le Sun Village.
The firm will also carry out the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning works for the 110kV cable connections from the Industrial Zone substation to Resort Cove and Bay Le Sun Village substations.
Work is scheduled to be completed in 2010.
Emaar, The Economic City is the client.
In 2007, Siemens signed a memorandum of understanding with Emaar Properties to set up a 110/380kV power grid within King Abdullah Economic City (MEED 30:7:07).
