Biography: Simon Keith has worked in the defence and aerospace industry for more than 20 years. He is a graduate of the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth in the UK and is a qualified naval helicopter pilot and instructor.

Keith retired from the Royal Navy in 1982 and since then he has worked for firms in the UK, including shipbuilder Swan Hunter, defence firm GEC Marconi, as well as London-based international marketing firms.

Since joining British arms firm BAE Systems, Keith has managed multimillion-dollar defence contracts in the Far East and Europe.

He relocated to Abu Dhabi in 2010 as part of a realignment of BAE Systems’ export business.

BAE Systems has been exporting to the Middle East since the 1950s. The firm has a joint venture with Abu Dhabi Ship Building to provide naval support in the Gulf, delivering armoured personnel carriers to Dubai Police.
