Biography: Simon Putt joined France’s BNP Paribas in 2009 and is currently head of debt capital markets following the relocation of his predecessor Mark Waters to London and the decision in early 2010 to split responsibilities for loans and bonds in two.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Putt worked with the US’ Citigroup between 2007-09 and the UK’s HSBC between 2000-07.
He served as director of debt capital markets at both banks. Previously, he worked at France’s Credit Commercial de France in 1998-2000 before it was acquired by the UK’s HSBC.
Recently, he has worked on deals including sovereign issues for Lebanon, when it raised $1.2bn in March, and for Bahrain, when it raised $1.25bn in the same month. He also worked on a corporate deal for Qatar National Bank, which raised $1.5bn in November 2010.
