Six local contractors submitted bids on 1 May to the Interior Ministry for the contract to build new residences for the governor of Mecca. The Saudi Lebanese Modern Construction Company has submitted a low bid of SR 374.4 million ($100 million), about 12 per cent lower than the next price of SR 424.7 million ($113 million) offered by Yamama Construction Company (MEED 17:3:06).
The project calls for the construction of two residences for the governor and his deputy and 58 associated buildings ranging from kitchens to nurseries. Located on the Jeddah corniche, the structure will have a built-up area of about 38,000 square metres. The local Zuhair Fayez Partnership Consultants is the consultant.
