Sonelgaz prequalifies bids

State energy company Sonelgaz has prequalified 10 bidders for the project to build a 509-kilometre-long gas pipeline running from the eastern Khenchela region to the western Sidi Belabbes region.

The 28-inch-diameter pipeline will run through Barika, Batna, Msila, Medea and Oued Taria. Commercial offers are due in February 2008. The prequalified bidding groups include Iran's Didas; Russia's Stroytransgaz; Iran's Nastaran Electric Company; the US' Willbros Group; Nurol Group with Servet Arar, both of Turkey; Pakistan's Sui Northern Gas Pipelines; local firms Cosider, Enac and Kanaghaz; Turkey's Gunsayil; Brazil's Andrade Gutierrez and India's Punj Lloyd.
