Sorouh moves on Sky tower and ADIA

23 June 2006

Development is accelerating at local property developer Sorouh Real Estate. At Shams Abu Dhabi on Reem island, the piling package for Sky tower has been awarded, and at Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) the company has secured a concession to develop staff accommodation.

On Shams Abu Dhabi, the local/Turkish joint venture (JV) of Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises and STFA Soil Group has been awarded the piling package for Sky towers. The 379-metre-high tower will be the tallest in Abu Dhabi when completed in 2009, and together with six other buildings, forms the Gate at the entrance to Reem island.

Prequalification for the main construction package is in the final stages and tenders are expected to be issued soon. US-based Arquitectonica is the consultant for the Gate project. The US' Hill International with 3D/I+PI, made up of US-based 3D/I, Bahrain-based Projacs International and the local Al-Qudra Holding, is the project manager for Shams Abu Dhabi (MEED 5:5:06).

At ADIA, Abu Dhabi's Department of Civil Aviation has awarded Sorouh a 15-year concession to develop staff accommodation. The project includes about 22 villas and 30 apartment buildings.
