South Oil Company to eliminate routine gas flaring by 2021

03 November 2015

Previous target for eliminating flaring was 2015

Iraq’s state-owned South Gas Company (SOC) is aiming to eliminate routine gas flaring by 2021, according to the company’s director general Ali Khader al-Saady.

SOC’s original target for the elimination of gas flaring was 2015.

Al-Saady said that the project had experienced a number of setbacks that had caused delays.

The problems included securing power for gas compressor plants and problems with existing pipelines that are due to be overhauled.

Speaking at a conference in Turkey on 3 November he said that he had full confidence that the 2021 target would be met.
