Spanish group wins airport handling contract

Fomento de Construcciones y Contractas (FCC)of Spain has been awarded a contract to provide ground handling services at all local airports. FCC is the first international operator to be granted a handling licence.

The seven-year contract will begin in early 2004. FCC estimates annual revenues at Eur 10 million ($11.9 million), primarily from the largest airports at Casablanca, Agadir and Marrakech. Some 6 million passengers pass through the three airports each year.

The contract is FCC's first in the kingdom and will be carried out by the company's wholly-owned Flightcaresubsidiary. One of Spain's largest building and services companies, FCC also provides waste collection services in Egypt.
